Vanco Farm Canseled

Hi everyone,

We will be post-poning our class trip to Vanco Farms until next week.

Unfortunately we were unable to get enough drives for this trip.

I know you parents have been very helpful with transportation to our events and I appreciate your support.

We are talking about going to Vanco next Friday, April 27th around 10:15ish.

Please email me and let me know if you would be able to drive and spend the day with us.

We would still be going to Willem’s home for play time and stay until the end of the school day.

We would bring a lunch from home like we do each day and eat it at Willem’s house.

Spring photos will be taken in school before we leave for Mount Albeon.

Talk with you soon.

Enjoy your day tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Perry

In Need Of Rides

Hi there parents,

It is so good to be back and see the children again!

We are looking forward to going to the Tulip farm, however we don’t have enough rides yet.

Thank you to those who have returned your child’s permission slips so quickly. That has been really helpful.

We need rides for 10 children.

Please let us know if you are able to help us drive and have a fun day out.

Thank you

Enjoy this beautiful day.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Perry

Good morning Friends and Family,

What a beautiful day on Prince Edward Island!

Thank you Mrs. Squires, Mrs Sider and Mrs.McGonnell for teaching the class during the days I have been out.

I will be back in the class tomorrow Wed. April 18th.

Today the children will have Music with Mrs. Devrise.  They look forward to this time with her and the fun she prepares for them.

Wed:  They are ready! Yes! We will be bringing up the whole kindergarten class to share in Chapel together!  Jr’s and Sr’s. together! It is time and we are getting them ready for the next “mature” level!  Please have your child in class ready to go for 9:00 as our grade 5 & 6 buddies come and get paired up with our class.  Also for the Jr part-time children who will be new to this process it would be helpful to have your child use the washroom before entering our class on Wed.  This would lessen the disruptions during chapel.

Library today, Arts & Crafts

Please return your permission slips for our class trip to the Tulip factory on Friday as we need to organize rides.

Thurs. Today we will have Gym with Mrs. Laird

Friday: Class Trip the Vanco and then go to Willem’s home to eat our lunches we packed and celebrate Keira’s birthday!

Sorry no Ooka Island or Show and tell today.

Speaking of Ooka Island, Cammy Barber of Ooka, has offered to make a home rendition of this reading program for the children of our Kindergarden class!  If you would like to take advantage of this very generous offer, please let me know by Friday April 20th, and I will give Cammy the informatin.

Have a lovely day.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Perry

Short Week

Hello Parents and Friends,

As you are thinking about Easter and the business of this special weekend, I want to remind you of this short week…

Monday: NO school on Easter Monday

Tuesday: Gym today

Wednesday: celibrate Riley’s birthday, chapel, Library, arts and crafts, REPORT CARDS go home today!

Thursday: Guest teacher: Mrs. Sider

The children know Mrs. Sider well as she helped in our class as a volunteer Thursday mornings, and as a teacher while Mrs. Squiers was away.  I will be in the building but out of the classroom as I will be administering an Early Years Assessment to the Jr.’s who will be attending our school as next year’s Sr. Kindergarten students.  I look forward to meeting the new students and their families.

Parent Teacher Interviews are from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm this Thursday evening.  Please call Miss Fanning in the office to make an appointment if you would like to meet with Mrs. Squires and myself.

Friday: No School due to Parent Teacher Interviews

Friday and Saturday night our highschool students will be putting on a play for us to enjoy. It is called “The Randsom of Miss Elverna Dower.“  It is  a comedy about a Highschool teacher who has been “taken” and the dilemma of …do we want her back?

There will be an intermission where delicious deserts can be purchased as a fund-raiser for the student’s mission trip to Jamaica.  Tickets for the play are $8.00 in advance & $10.00 at the door.  Please see the Scrip counter at the school entrance for tickets.  Thank you for your support.

Looking ahead to next week…April 20th we will be going to a Tulip factory in Mount Albion for a class trip.

I will need help with driving there if anyone is able to come with us. I will get back to you regarding the times we will be away.  I expect we will be gone for most of the day.  All are welcome.

Have a Blessed Easter weekend.

Small gathering or large, ham or lamb, know that you are prayed for and appreciated.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Perry

Feels like Spring!

Hello everyone,

Glad to hear you are enjoying the photos on our Blog.

We are so thankful to have Mrs. Squires back with us in our class. I have passed on your well wishes to her.

Things to watch for this week:

Monday: Library books back today please, Music with Mrs. Devries, craft

Tuesday: Reading groups,

Wednesday: Chapel, Library, Craft

Thursday: Hot Dog’s offered for lunch, Gym

Friday: It is Good Friday and therefore there is no school today or Monday as it is Easter Weekend.

For anyone new to our country or the Easter celebration, we take time this weekend to thank God for sending us Jesus His son to earth. We can know the Father and His amazing love for us by getting to know Jesus.  Do you know that God loves you?   Jesus  is the one who walked this earth to show us what the Father is like. Jesus is the one who stepped in to cover our sin (every wrong thing we have ever done) so we can be called righteous like him. Amazing!  If you have any questions or would like to know more about my Jesus, I would be happy to talk with you.  Pastor Bray of Grace Baptist Church would also be happy to answer any questions you may have and lead you to the One who has the answers.

Here is an 8 min video talking about God’s love for man.

Have a wonderful Easter Weekend, enjoy family & the Father’s unstoppable love towards you and those you love.

P.S:

You may have noticed a map of the world in your child’s DOG BOOK.

We have begun a Social Studies unit on children of the world.  The highschool Co-op girls (Miss Sarah, Miss Amy & Miss Emily) have been teaching this unit with our class.  The children have “traveled” to Mexico so far.  After Mexico we will travel to Peru.

Something New:

I have added a “beat the clock game” to the full-time students DOG BOOK’s.

With this game, the children choose 5-10 words in a row to read.  Parents will time the children to see how long it takes for the child to read those words.  Please mark down on the score sheet, how many words were read, and how long it took for the words to be read.  Can they beat the clock next time? This will increase reading accuracy and confidence while they read.  This competition will be with themselves not with others. The children increase the amount of words they read as their confidence builds.

Thank you parents who have helped me put this game together.

You time and skills are very much appreciated.

God Bless,

Mrs. Laura Perry

Jr. & Sr. Kindergarten Graduation Photos

Just a reminder that this Friday, there is an opportunity for you to have your child’s picture taken in a “cap and gown” for their Kindergarten Graduation photo.

All the children will be photographed and you have the opportunity to preview the pictures before you buy them.

No money is needed on Friday.

Enjoy your evening.

Hope you enjoyed the class pictures from the last post.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Perry

First day back was a sucess!

Well we had an exciting day today, beginning with our dear Mrs. Squires coming back to our class. Welcome home to us!

We enjoyed reading our 1 & 2 vowel rules…

We learned our first “special sound” of “ck in duck c,k “.

…and we ended the day by joining the elementary classes learning about BUGS!

Please listen to the weather forecast for any possible delays in the morning.

Here are some pictures of the last little while in and around our lovely class.

Have a cup of tea and enjoy.

See you soon.

Welcome Back Everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break for those of you who had time with your children.  We sure had nice weather! I won’t say any more because I know many of you had to work indoors.

I would first like to welcome back Mrs. Squires to our classroom!  We have been looking forward to this day for so long! We trust you will have a day full of huggs!  Get ready!

We have missed you so!

I want to thank Mrs. Sider and Mrs. McGonnell who worked in our class during Mrs. Squires absence.  You ladies were wonderful to work with.  You are welcome back any time.

Thank you ladies. You are such a blessing to me.

Here is what to watch for this week:

Monday: We will learn a new “special sound” clue that helps us to read words quicker.   We begin our “Visit children of the world” in our Social Studies section.  I wonder where we will travel to first…

Tuesday: Gym today

Wednesday: Chapel, Craft with Mrs. McGonnell

Thursday: Spring Craft with Mrs. Perry

Friday: Ooka Island! Oh how we have missed Ooka Island.  Ask your child what they notice that is new in Ooka, Show and Tell, & Gym

I look forward to seeing everyone again in the morning.

I hear there may be a hint of snow in the morning, please send in extra socks to be sure your children can have a change after recess if need be.

Thanks.

Sleep well.

Mrs. Laura Perry

Week of Fun!

Hi there parents and friends,

Welcome to Carnival Week.

The high school students worked hard to plan a week of fun for all age groups.

Tomorrow we will enjoy a visit from Micah’s Mom who works at Newcomers PEI.

Mrs. Bailey will talk to the children about what it is like to live in a new country and make new friends.

Thank you Mrs. Bailey, for taking time to spend with us and open our eyes to new experiences.

This week it is likely we will be late getting dismissed.  We will be in the church, celebrating our school Carnival Week.  Please come in and join us and watch the fun.

Monday: Pajama day.

Tuesday: Twin day, Gym today

Wednesday: Super Hero day, No Chapel, Art to be announced

Thursday: Gym today

Friday: Green day, Chapel today, Show and tell, last Skating day at Simmons Rink on North River Road

Thank you everyone for picking up your children at 2:30.  This has been the best year for prompt pick ups.  Thank you !

*again, those who have children in afterschool care, we will make sure they are taken back to school with no problems.

March Break

Remember: next week March 19th – 23 is March break, which means there is no school for the week.  School will begin again on Monday March 26th.  Refer to www.gracechristianschool.ca for our school 2011/2012 calendar of events at bottom right of the screen.

I encourage you if you haven’t already to sign up for this note to come straight into your email so you don’t have to check each day for new notices.  I’ve had feed back that it is very helpful and time-saving for parents of our kindergarten class.  No guessing. There it is!

A note on our dear Mrs. Squires.  She is looking forward to coming back to our class as soon as she can.  She asks about the children and misses them dearly.  We miss her too.  Keep praying for her and her family as she rests at home.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Perry
